2023: The PDP's Obvious Challenge

 By DAN AMOR

With the emergence of Prince Uche Secondus, a former Deputy National Chairman and Acting  National Chairman as the elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, concerned Nigerians had thought that all was now set for an interesting opposition politics in the country. He defeated all the aspirants who contested for the coveted diadem in a make-or-mar election held at the Eagles Square, Abuja on Saturday December 9, 2017.

But three years down the road, Prince Secondus has failed to ensure a peaceful harmonization of all rough edges in the party. In spite of the horse-trading and other subterfuges which are the hallmarks of all political competitions, PDP leaders must note that the survival and goal of the party should be paramount. So far, like a COVID 19 patient, the party is gasping for relief.

Press Statement

Buhari’s New Year Address, Empty, Directionless – PDP…Shows Nigerians Have To Come Together, Salvage Our Nation

                                     *President Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes the 2021 New Year address by President Muhammadu Buhari as empty, directionless and confirms that our nation indeed has become leaderless.

The President’s speech underscores the urgent need for compatriots to come together and salvage our nation that is fast heading to a failed state.

The PDP laments as appalling that on New Year Day, all that President Buhari could offer a troubled and frustrated nation was a regurgitated script full of lame excuses and empty promises that address nothing.

As a President, President Buhari has not demonstrated the capacity to play his own part, as he claimed, having failed to find solution for the security and economic challenges that pervade our nation under his incompetent and lethargic watch.

Certificate Saga: Buhari Should Vacate Office Now – PDP

...Urges Judiciary To Uphold Justice

Press Statement
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reviewed the video of the media interview by the Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and surmised that President Muhammadu Buhari should save the judiciary and the nation further troubles by immediately throwing in the towel and vacating the presidential seat following the official admission that he (Buhari) does not possess a WAEC certificate, contrary to his claims and disposition before the law.
Our party mocks the Buhari Presidency for pushing out the video wherein the Minister pleaded with Nigerians to pardon President Buhari over his false WAEC certificate claims.
PDP notes the deliberate ploy of Alhaji Lai Mohammed to appeal to sentiments, seeing that Mr. President had failed to defend himself before the Presidential petition tribunal.

Nigeria Collapsing Under Buhari – PDP

...Laments 43% FDI Flight
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reviewed the escalating insecurity, rising political uncertainties, biting economic hardship as well as prevailing tension in all parts of the country and alarms that the nation is collapsing under President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC).
*President Buhari
The PDP is deeply worried that our nation, which was a prosperity hub and a reference point for democracy, personal freedom and good governance, now has all the trappings of a failed state with government, under President Buhari, being unable to guarantee any of its fundamental duties to the extent that citizens are now desperate to take their destinies in their hands.

President Buhari Can’t Fight Corruption, He Is A Direct Beneficiary Of Corruption Freebies — PDP

Press Statement
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says President Muhammadu Buhari has no moral rectitude to fight corruption being a direct beneficiary of the corruption freebies deployed by his party leaders to fund his 2015 presidential campaign.
*President Buhari
The party said the President who declared that he had no resources to run a presidential campaign in 2015 ought to have known, particularly as a leader, that the billions of naira deployed for his campaigns were proceeds of corrupt activities of known All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and leaders.
The party further challenged Buhari to make open the sources of fund available to his campaign in the 2003, 2007 and 2011 race as well as the names of the donors.

Dapchi Abduction: Scam Of No Equal Dimension, War Crime Against Humanity – PDP

Text of Press Conference of the Peoples Democratic Party, on the Return of the Abducted Dapchi School Girls Presented by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, Today, March 21, 2018.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns the All Progressives Congress (APC) and certain officials in the Presidency for staging the abduction of the schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe State, for political purposes.
Our Party considers this act as wicked, callous and tormenting to use innocent schoolgirls as pawns in an ignoble script that was designed to hoodwink Nigerians and orchestrate a great rescue and security prowess of a conquering general, all to push a 2019 reelection bid, is an unpardonable gamble with human lives.

President Buhari, Learn From Ghanaian President and Stop Embarrassing Nigeria – PDP

Press Statement
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammad Buhari to rather use the benefit of his state visit to Ghana to draw lessons from his Ghanian counterpart, President Nana Akufo-Addo on how
to run a peaceful, united and economically vibrant nation.
Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo and
 President Muhammadu Buhari
The party also  criticized the President for offering to assist Ghana
in her war against corruption, when his own administration reeks heavily with corruption as evinced by the Transparency International report which exposed the fact that corruption has worsened in Nigeria under his watch.
