What DSS Report Says About Adams Oshiomhole

By Fredrick Nwabufo
The depth of filth in the APC primary election can contain a tsunami. The “inglorious” exercise and its resulting attrition betray the anti-corruption sloganeering of the Buhari administration.
*Adams Oshiomhole
A lot has been said about the alleged involvement of Adams Oshiomhole, APC national chairman, in the corruption shin-dig.  But what is the position of the Department of State Security (DSS)? The secret police interrogated Oshiomhole, and really did ask him to resign over allegations of bribery.

So, Our Democracy Is Only Under Threat When DSS, Police Harass Senators?

By Fredrick Nwabufo
I have become flaccid to the unending drag drama at the national assembly. And I have lost erection for the routine executive-legislature dominatrix. The reason is that I am in a “fair weather” relationship with both parties.
In July, I raised my feeble voice against the police blockade of Senate President Bukola Saraki’s convoy. I did that principally because of his office. Saraki is only a tenant in that office; Nigerians are the landlord. We must protect our institutions regardless of the tenants who happen to find themselves there now. They will remain long after the present occupants have left the scene.

Is Nigeria Still In Recession? There Is Unbearable Hunger In The Land

By Fredrick Nwabufo
When economic syrups do not improve the health of a diseased economy, the medicine can be best described as fake, substandard, and voodoo-ish. Nigeria ‘exited’ recession in September 2017. At the time, the government made exorbitant promises, and bragged that it “rescued” the economy from the buccaneer manifestations of the Jonathan administration. I remember, Lai Mohammed, minister of information, made this a refrain at every official event.
*President Buhari and Finance Minister Adeosun
But months after the ‘exit’, the economy has not improved. And there are no pointers to marginal economic recovery.
I will not buy that economic bullshit that ‘there are significant improvements, but that they will become visible in another one or two years’, because the government has sustained this lie for three years.

Can Obasanjo’s ‘Letter Bomb’ Cause Buhari Electoral Fatality?

By Fredrick Nwabufo

I was in a meeting when former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s “letter bomb” rent the “news-sphere”. When I received the news alert, I hastened my business because I was seized by capricious anxiety to read the former president’s missive.
*Obasanjo and Buhari
I must say, Obasanjo has taken the art of letter-writing to an enchanted stratosphere. And I admire his preferred means of intervening in Nigeria’s socio-political malaise.

‘The Human Side Of President Buhari’

By Fredrick Nwabufo

The header of this article is the title of a 55-minute documentary on President Muhammadu Buhari.

The documentary has been scheduled to air on NTA this evening.

The presidency says “the documentary portrays the president in a light that majority of Nigerians have not seen him”.

I find this – ‘human side of Buhari’ – farcical and puerile. Does it mean the president has an animal side? What other human side could he have than his much vaunted “sense of humor”?

Buhari’s “sense of humor” has been elevated by his media handlers to a national diadem.

His media handlers are always quick to play on this harp – “Buhari’s sense of humor” – whenever there is citizen angst.
