Building the Foundation: Season 1
The journey began with a simple goal: to encourage a deeper dive into the Bible in a way that felt accessible and communal. Hence the theme of the first season was tagged Back to the Bible. In our inaugural season, we laid the groundwork: focusing on Bible stories, characters and themes. Despite being our "pilot" year, the enthusiasm was immediate. We saw more than 1000 participants step up to the challenge from which 200 eventually qualified for the studio competition, setting a high standard for accuracy and sportsmanship. A candidate from Lagos won this first season making participants from other dioceses determine to carry the flag of Season 2.

Building on that initial momentum, Season 2 which was tagged The True Light saw a significant expansion. We didn’t just grow in number — increasing participation for qualifying stages by 20% — we also grew in depth. This season, we introduced mentorship , spiritual and academic workshops, entrepreneurial trainings, sports and other games in the camp along with the usual in-depth Bible study, teachings and fellowship and team-based rounds and tougher higher order question system along with Bible recitations for the final stages which added a new layer of strategy and excitement to the sessions.
The highlights
of the season included:
Deepened Study: Participants spent countless hours in the Word, moving beyond basic facts to a more nuanced understanding of the whole Bible.
Intergenerational Connection: One of the most beautiful aspects of Season 2 was seeing teenagers compete side-by-side, united by their shared love for the Truth and the Ministry.
Community Support: The atmosphere during our final rounds was electric with family members, pastors of the participants and supporters cheering each times a correct answer is given, fostering a spirit of collective achievement.
Looking Forward
As Project Coordinator, I have been humbled by the dedication of our participants and the tireless work of our volunteers – Pastors, Youth and Children Ministry Coordinators, Guest speakers, Patrons, Sponsors, Video Crew (internal and external), Contestant Representatives, Contestant Coordinators, Catering and Sanitary Crew, Medical Team, etc. The Lamp and Light name is taken from Psalm 119:105, and seeing that light shines through the competitive spirit of our community has been a true privilege.
We are already looking ahead to Season 3 with great anticipation. We plan to engage within and
without the community using our dedicated LLBT App and getting participation
from more of our senior pastors in the Ministry in continuation of our mission
to hide the Word in the hearts of the youths while getting them to buy the vision
of the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement and to fly the flag of
our father, the Chief Servant of God, Pastor A.C Ohanebo, while building
lasting bonds of fellowship.
