An attempt was made on the life of the Osun State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, today, Saturday, October 17, 2020, in Oshogbo.
According to the Osun State Commissioner for
information, Mrs Funke Egbomode, “armed with guns [and]
cutlasses, the hoodlums swooped on the Governor at Olaiya junction, while he
was addressing the #EndSARS
protesters at the state capital.”
According to the commissioner, “Governor Oyetola had joined protesters in the walk from Alekuwodo area to Olaiya junction, singing with them and promising them that their demands will be looked into, and that he supported …their peaceful agitations which is a part of democratic process.”
Mrs. Egbomode said that despite the assault, the governor still
went ahead to address the protesting youths. But while the governor did that, “the
armed men and women started shooting, hurled stones at the Governor's car.”

However, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, tweeted the picture of a wounded man and declared: "#EndsarsThis is what armed thugs hired by operatives of the #Officialapcng led Governor of Osun state, did to some protesters in Oshogbo today! These atrocities against peaceful protesters will not go unpunished #RevolutionNow."
