Dave Umahi And His Lies!

 By Nchee Nwabunnia

Dr Akanu Ibiam from present day Ebonyi State was the Governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria. That was made up of the entire South East, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom states. He was the Governor from 1960 to 1966.

After the military interjection came the second republic, Jim Nwobodo came in 1979 followed by C.C Onoh in 1983 as Governors of old Anambra State. Both were from current day Enugu State. The military struck again.

Abia was created and Ebonyi became part of it. The third republican Governor of Abia was Ogbonnaya Onu from current day Ebonyi state. The military interjected again.

Ebonyi was created and country eventually returned to civil rule, the fourth republic.

Since the fourth republic, these were Governors of Ebonyi and they are all from Ebonyi; Sam Egwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) became the first elected governor and served from 1999 to 2007. He was succeeded by Martin Elechi (2007–2015), Dave Umahi (2015–2023), and Francis Nwifuru (2023–present).

How has Ndi Igbo dominated Ebonyi people as alleged by Umahi. At the national level, Pius Anyim emerged senate president. Umahi is current minister for Works.

Umahi's false allegation against Ndi Igbo will be kept in the safe until that day when he will need Ndi Igbo the most. Ebonyi people cannot be decived by a man who had the opportunity to build people but chose to build empty flyovers instead. Ebonyi has been ruled by Ebonyi people since their days as part of Abia but yet has not brought them out of poverty and the associated menial job. Who is to be blamed?

The very man who has been in the saddle of the state's power as a deputy governor, a governor and now a god father to the governor/federal minister over an accumulated period of about 16 years is passing the blame of Ebonyi backwardness to others. He is the most appropriate man to be blamed for Ebonyi backwardness. His pushing that blame to anyone else is being clever by half. Umahi is an agent of darkness that Ndi Ebonyi must avoid.
