The Defamation Of Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) - The Position Of Ndigbo Lagos

PRESS RELEASE

The apparently procured, choreographed and orchestrated interview on Arise Television on Thursday August 28 in which a certain Stephen Davies an Australian of the ilk of many white mercenaries prowling the African continent, accused General Ihejirika of being a sponsor of Boko Haram is most condemnable.

In the said interview, Mr Davies did not adduce or suggest any single evidence to support his accusation. Curiously when in the same breadth he said he has knowledge of the sponsor of the Abuja Nyanya bombing he refused to name names. Most tragic in this choreographed defamation of an illustrious General, is the interviewer's unprofessionalism in failing to demand evidence from Ihejirika's accuser, Mr. Stephen Davies. General Ihejirika has since denied this allegation. Given the lack of evidence, the nature of delivery of the allegation and the character of the accused General, Ndigbo Lagos believes Ihejirika's traducers are playing dirty politics.

General Ihejirika will be remembered for being one of the most outstanding Commanders Nigeria has had. He is not only an accomplished tactician but also a Strategic leader of a fighting force. In his time he not only decimated the fighting capability of Boko Haram but also built enduring military institutions to permanently checkmate insurgency in Nigeria.

According to the Vanguard online of 27th August 2014, General Ihejirika "not only
established the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army with headquarters in Maiduguri, he also established new Army Brigades, Counter Terrorism Schools in Kachia and Jaji …”

When Ihejirika retired from the Army, the same self- selected Northern bigots wanted him tried by The World Court for being overzealous in crushing Boko Haram. Eight months down the road, the same General Ihejirika is now accused of being a sponsor.

The orchestration of this insidious allegation by Nasir el-Rufai a character fast drifting gracelessly into the ethnic bigoted pit of hell, reveals the tragic indulgence in denial, escapism by the same self-centred  Northern politicians who would rather create hell to rule over than serve in heaven. As Ndigbo Lagos advised the likes of Nasir el-Rufai earlier, those who ride the tiger will inevitably find themselves in the belly of the tiger.

We therefore call on the Federal Government to institute a high powered inquiry to address this obnoxious allegation and lay it to rest.

Chuma Igwe

  1. I agree with Ezeana Igirigi Achusim - Has any one actually seen an authentic report where the Davis wrote that Ihejirika was/is a Boko Haram sponsor? If he did, it must be either as a joke or a case of mistaken identity. To white folks, we look alike, act alike and sound alike. Can he or his informers pick Ihejirika from a line up? Very unlikely.

  2. My Nigerian People:

I have heard, seen and read a lot on many things but none is as bizarre as what this Australian man is spinning and unleashing to Nigerians. This man they called Davis Stephen (whatever his name is) must be interrogated by the Nigerian security agencies so he can provide proof to his wild allegations. This man claimed to have been hired to conduct some negotiations regarding Boko Haram. He was not hired to conduct investigations. If in the course of conducting what he was hired to do and he comes across a material or evidence of sponsoring Boko Haram, Investigation protocols demands that he turns such evidence over to the authorities. For him to make a ludicous allegation that General Ihejirika is a co-sponsor of Boko Haram puts his integrity (or lack of any) and professional conduct in jeopardy, especially without providing an iron-clad evidence. His only evidence is that he said so.

This is as much a clear diversionary tactis as it is a distraction brewed by the creators of Boko Haram which I guess Nasir El Rufai might be among. General Ihejirika was accused by some Northern individuals, El Rufai included, of his heavy handedness in dealing with Boko Haram and in less than a year he is now being accused of sponsoring Boko Haram. Nigerians are smarter than this nonsense.

El Rufai and his people should not belittle intelligence of Nigerians. Smart Nigerians know who are the sponsors of Boko Haram. Governor of Bornu State once stated that "heads would roll" if he tells what he knows about Boko Haram. We are still waiting for him to tell us what he knows and let's watch those heads roll.

Before talking about General Ihejirika being tried for fighting Boko Haram, why not we try General Gowon, General Danjuma, General Obasanjo, General Akinrinade and posthumously General Murtala Mohammed for conducting unprecedented genocides on Biafran people? Do we need an Australian crack-head to tell Nigerians that these people committed genocides in Asaba, Owerri, and other Igbo towns?

Better still do we need an Australian crack-head to tell Nigerians that Nasir El Rufai should be investigated for the things he did while he was the Minister for Federal Capital Terrritory including financial investigations and allocations of properties in Abuja? It's only in Nigeria that people like General Ihejirika that deserve accolades for their excellent service are not recognized.
